Open Source ERP and BI is becoming a big deal and I expect it to grow in the coming months and years. This is an example of why I think so. The payback time is low and cost is mainly for implementation.
Pentaho Corporation, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), today announced that Centro, a leading local online media services provider & technology firm, has deployed Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition to integrate information from disparate systems providing ad-hoc, on-demand reporting and analysis to its entire organization. After only a few short months in production, Centro has already seen strong company-wide performance gains, increased operational efficiency and reduced costs.
Centro is a local digital campaign solutions service provider. It has over 450 advertisers and was using Excel as its reporting platform.
Among the open source BI platforms, Pentaho is surely right up there with Jasper Reports.
Centro is using Pentaho Reporting and Pentaho Analysis to deliver over 50 on-demand, user-prompted reports and interactive analysis views across every level of the organization -- every department has access to data, from the executive team to sales managers, and from finance to marketing and technology.
